Smurfs scribes Jay Scherick and David Ronn will write the screenplay for the upcoming Popeye 3D animated feature from Sony Pictures Animation (see “Sony Will Make Arad’s ‘Popeye’”). It’s being produced by former Marvel Studios head Avi Arad, who says, “Popeye has been my childhood favorite character.” 

Scherick and Ronn have also been working on the Smurfs sequel for Sony.
