As we noted yesterday (see “Archaia, IDW Make Digital News”), digital comics announcements are coming in bunches these days, reflecting the pace of change in the industry.  Here’s a batch from November 9, 2011.
Amazon confirmed that Comics by comiXology will be available in the app store on the Kindle Fire, along with numerous other Android apps such as Netflix, Rhapsody, Pandora, Twitter, Facebook, and games from Zynga, EA and others.  The comiXology app had previously appeared in an image displayed by Kindle at its launch event (see “’Watchmen’ on Kindle”).
This week marked the 8th Wednesday in a row that Comics by comiXology has been the #1 Top Grossing App on the iPad.
Graphicly has acquired the Double Feature comics app for iOS, and lead developer Joshua Emmons has joined the company.  The Double Feature app, which bundles comics with pencils, inks, and scripts, will continue to be available.  Comics offered by Double Feature will also be available on Graphicly platforms, including Action Double Feature #1 by Dennis Hopeless, Mike Norton, Tim Seeley and Ross Campbell; and Science Fiction Double Feature #2, by Joshua Emmons, Mike Norton, Tom Stillwell, and Jethro Morales.
Zenescope Entertainment announced that a dedicated Zenescope iOS app and storefront has launched and that it will begin releasing Jurassic Strikeforce 5, Alice in Wonderland, and Charmed in digital form the same day as print in November, December, and January, respectively.
Archie Comics announced that its books will be available on the Nook Tablet (see “B&N Adding Nook Tablet”).
