At the ComicsPro meeting in Dallas the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund outlined its plan to partner with retailers to raise money to continue the struggle against censorship.  CBLDF Deputy Director Alex Cox hopes the plan to hold Member Appreciation events at local comic book stores will create stronger ties between the CBLDF regular membership and its retailer members.

In order to foster these events the CBLDF has come up with the CBLDF Member Appreciation Party Box, which will be sent to participating retailers.  The box will include CBLDF-branded art button thank you gifts for all card-carrying members who attend the event, as well as signed comics and prints that can raffled off to reward people for coming to the event.  The current Party Box includes CBLDF art buttons for all members who attend, comics signed by Jim Lee and a print signed by Neil Gaiman for raffle prizes, plus bundles of “The Comic Fan’s Worst Nightmare,” the CBLDF’s mini-comic about the organizations current casework.

Retailers interested in hosting a CBLDF Member Appreciation event at their stores should contact Cox (alex.cox@cbldf.org) with a proposal that includes the name of the store, the proposed date for the event, and an attendance goal.
