The comic hoard belonging to convicted meth dealer Aaron Castro (see "Alleged Meth Dealers Hoarded Comics") was auctioned and brought $125,050, according to the Denver Post. Castro had accumulated the comics , which were originally thought to be worth over $500,000, for the purpose of opening a comic store to launder drug money. He bought so many comics that it caused cash flow problems for his drug business, according to the report.
The 18,753 comics were auctioned on a U.S. Marshals Website, and brought 108 bids.
Castro has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.
