Independent publisher Oni Press has announced that, starting in August, it will become the official publisher of the Penny Arcade comic strips. Created by Jerry “Tycho” Holkins and Mike “Gabe” Krahulik, the Penny Arcade Webcomics deftly skewer current news and trends in the gaming community, and they have attracted nearly 4 million followers.
In addition to producing the Penny Arcade comics, Krahulik and Holkins also put on the popular PAX gaming conventions (see "PAX Coming to East Coast in 2010"). The first Oni-published volume, Penny Arcade, Vol. 8: Magical Kids in Danger, a 112-page full color book that collects the Penny Arcade comics from 2007 will be released on August 29th and will retail for $14.99.

Oni will be Penny Arcade’s third print publisher. Dark Horse published the first Penny Arcade print collections before Holkins and Krahulik took their creation to Random House’s Del Rey imprint in 2009 (see "Del Rey Gets 'Penny Arcade'").
Last year Cryptozoic Entertainment launched a Penny Arcade Deck-Building Game (see "'Penny Arcade' Deck-Building Game" and "'Penny Arcade' Expansion").
