Constantin Film has begun casting its motion-capture 3-D Tarzan movie.  Kellan Lutz, the fashion model-turned actor who played Emmett Cullen in the Twilight films will play Edgar Rice Burroughs’ jungle lord with Spencer Locke, who is best known for her role as K-Mart in the Resident Evil movies will play Jane.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reinhard Klooss and Holger Tappe will direct the new Tarzan film, which will have an updated take on ERB’s pulp classic.  The villain of the new movie will be the head of Greystoke Industries, who takes over after the death of Tarzan’s parents in the plane crash that maroons the future jungle lord in Africa.  Jane is the daughter of an African guide, and she wants to stop the exploitation of the jungle’s resources by the ruthless Greystoke Industries.

No release date has been set for Constantin's Tarzan movie yet, but casting appears to be fairly advanced.  What might not be clear until the film is released is why the producers have engaged such photogenic stars for a mo-cap movie?  Couldn't Andy Serkis play both Tarzan and Jane?
