The powers behind the Star Wars-themed "Course of the Force" event have released a new video about the cosplay event that will allow Star Wars fans to channel the "Force" of their goodwill while carrying their lightsabers in an Olympic Torch-style relay event from Santa Monica to San Diego that will be held from July 7th to July 11th (see "Course of the Force"). Proceeds from the event will benefit the Make a Wish Foundation.
This video, which was written by SNL producers and shot at Industrial Light & Magic, features the Nerdist Channel’s Chris Hardwick in an "origin" story for the "Course of the Force" event as Hardwick carries the lightsaber from ILM to the Santa Monica Pier where the event kicks off on July 7th.
In addition to Hardwick, the video includes R2D2, Boba Fett, Ewoks, Tusken Raiders, and a great cameo appearance by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. Peter Mayhew, who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, will be signing autographs at the Santa Monica Pier on July 7th (from 10am to 3pm) and at the Huntington Beach Pier on July 8th (from 4pm to 9pm).
