Marvel has released the cover for its first Marvel NOW title, Uncanny Avengers #1 (see "Marvel NOW! the Answer to DC's 'New 52'"), revealing a new cover design that will be used for the Marvel NOW! brand.  The biggest change is that the logo will no longer be limited to the top of the book.  "We’re no longer going to be locked into where our logos are placed," Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada said. "…[W]e’re going to start to look at our covers with an eye towards strong design and commerciality above all else."
Moving the logo from the top third of the comic changes the cover design from a magazine look to one more common for books.  Whether it will be endorsed by retailers, especially those with racking systems that do not display full covers, remains to be seen.
Marvel also announced that Marvel NOW! titles will feature augmented reality features powered by Aurasma.  This technology was first used for AvX #1 (see "Marvel Announces New Digital-Only Comics Imprint"), and allows access to behind-the-scenes extras using the Marvel AR app.  Marvel NOW! titles will also be packaged with codes for free digital copies.
