Alex Segura, who left DC Comics in December of 2010 to join Archie Comics as Executive Director of Publicity and Marketing, is returning to DC Entertainment as Executive Director of Publicity. In his new position he will report to Courtney Simmons, Vice President of Publicity.
Segura, who previously worked for the Miami Herald, Wizard, and Newsarama, was at DC from 2006 until 2010 (see "Archie Hires Segura"). At Archie, in addition to his publicity and marketing duties, Segura wrote the 4-issue Archie Meets KISS story, and kept his powder dry during the company’s major management rift (see "The Battle for Archie Is Over" for links to the entire history of the dispute). In June of this year he was promoted to Vice President of Publicity and Marketing (see "'Ski' Joins Archie Comics").
Segura explained to DC’s The Source blog why he was happy to be back at DC: "This is an important time at DC Entertainment. And a great time to be (at) DC Entertainment. The "New 52" is in full swing. The company is crackling with a creative energy that’s never been seen before--in comics and beyond."
