NYCC News: Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan have announced an all-new feature length anime film Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, which is currently in production at the Madhouse anime studio in Japan and will be released on DVD in the spring of 2013.  This new Marvel initiative, which will be explored at length at the Marvel TV Presents panel at the New York Comic Con on Saturday, represents the first major Marvel move in the anime sector since Madhouse produced four TV anime series featuring Marvel characters in a deal that was announced back in 2008 (see "'Wolverine,' 'Iron Man' Anime").

The new anime feature will be directed by Hiroshi Hamasaka (TEXHNOLYZE) and is based on a story by Brandon Auman (Iron Man: Armored Adventures) that pits Iron Man against Ezekiel Stane, who soon has Iron Man’s own allies hunting him.  Iron Man: Rise of Technovore will include a gaggle of other popular Marvel characters including War Machine, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, and The Punisher.
