Hasbro reported its Q3 results on Monday; the company has finally managed to stabilize its game sales after seven consecutive quarters of declines (see, for example, "WotC Key to Hasbro's Q2"). Wizards of the Coast's Magic: The Gathering was again mentioned as a strong performer, along with launches tied to some of Hasbro’s classic games.
Marvel toys tied to The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man were called out as successful lines, but sales on Marvel were not enough to offset the decline in Transformers and Beyblade toys compared to a year ago; the boys category was down 12% vs. 2011.
Sales for the quarter were $1.35 billion vs. $1.38 billion in Q3 2011. Profits were $165 million, vs. $171 million last year. In constant currency, both sales and profits were up over last year.
