Following the November 14 release of the All-New X-Men #1 from writer Brian M. Bendis and artist Stuart Immonen, Marvel Comics is set to launch Uncanny X-Men #1 by Bendis and illustrator Chris Bachalo in February 2013 as part of its expansive Marvel NOW! campaign.
As the flagship title in the X universe, Uncanny X-Men joins All-New X-Men and X-Men Legacy in the publisher's lineup. Led by Cyclops, the mutant superteam consisting of Emma Frost, Magneto, and Magik set out to recruit new members and redefine themselves in the wake of the latest Phoenix incident in the post-AvX world.
This latest incarnation represents the third, ongoing series to bear the Uncanny X-Men title--the first in 1981 and the latest earlier this year. As with other titles in the Marvel NOW! camp, the print edition of Uncanny X-Men will include a download code for a free digital copy of the comic on the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android platforms. Additionally, Uncanny X-Men will include augmented reality content--covers, behind the scenes features, etc.--accessible via the Marvel AR app.
This is the second Marvel NOW! launch announced Friday; the first was Fearless Defenders (see "'Fearless Defenders' #1")
