Manga Entertainment has announced that it will be releasing the three part original video animation series Rayearth on DVD on April 29, 2003.  The OVA was released after the anime series Magic Knight Rayearth in Japan, and carries the truncated name to distinguish it.  The lead characters are three young girls who've recently graduated from junior high and are called on to save the world.  DVD features include a photo gallery, character bios, trailer, and both English and Japanese 5:1 surround sound.  Running time is 180 minutes; MSRP is $24.95.

The property is from a manga by Clamp, and it's been a bestseller in the U.S. from Tokyopop (see 'Sailor Moon Graphic Novels Top Bookstore Sales'), which is relaunching the series in the 'authentic' manga trade paperback format this month.  Media Blasters has released the original anime series under the Magic Knight Rayearth title.
