Reacting to the unplanned early distribution of the Marvel Encyclopedia Vol. #2: X-Men to Waldenbooks outlets across the country, Marvel is working with Diamond to speed shipments of the books to pop culture retailers. Originally scheduled for a 4/2 release, the X-Men Encyclopedia has been available at some Waldenbooks stores for almost a week (one of the Waldenbooks outlets in Madison has already sold out). A spokesperson for Marvel told ICv2 that the early release was inadvertent, and that Marvel was working with Diamond to get the books to direct market stores as quickly as possible. Shops served by Diamond's Memphis distribution center should receive their books this Wednesday (3/19), while those serviced by LA and Plattsburgh will get theirs on 3/26.
