Marvel Comics has released an image of Skottie Young’s variant cover for Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’ Nova #1.  Young’s typcially lighthearted look at Sam Alexander, who was introduced as the new Nova in last year’s Avengers vs. X-Men event, emphasizes the character’s young and fun-loving nature.

In the new Nova ongoing series that debuts on February 20th, readers will learn of Sam’s connection to the Guardians of the Galaxy and why he is uniquely suited to take on the legacy of the Nova Corps.  Marvel just released some of McGuinness’s pencils from Nova #3 when Sam gets down to the business of training with the Guardians (see "It's 'Training Day' in 'Nova' #3").
