Godzilla: Rulers of Earth, an ongoing series set in IDW Publishing’s established Godzilla universe, will be stomping into comic shops June 19th, the company has announced.

 

Written by Chris Mowry (The Reign of Starscream) with art by Matt Frank (Mars Attacks, Transformers), Rulers of Earth takes place in the aftermath of humankind’s war on Godzilla, which has unleashed a bevy of behemoths looking to take over Earth, including such lesser known creatures as Moguera, Biollante, and Gorosaurus.

 

The series, which will sport covers by Frank, Bob Eggleton, and industry veteran Arthur Adams, will incorporate most of the monsters from the Toho films, giving readers a look at battles that have never taken place before in any medium.  Plus, some of the creatures will be making their comic book debut, and several new human characters will join various members of the returning cast.

 

Godzilla: Rulers of Earth is a follow-up to Duane Swierczynski and Simon Gane’s run on Godzilla.  It also will be timed to take advantage of the release of the new Godzilla feature film coming to theaters in May of 2014 (see "'Godzilla' Casting Underway"), a movie whose production has seen its fair share of controversy (see "Legendary Sues 'Godzilla' Producers").
