In October, Archie Comics will publish a Thor parody story called “Clod of Thunder” in Archie #648, written by Tom DeFalco with variant cover art by Walt Simonson (making his Archie debut). Fernando Ruiz (Life with Archie) will illustrate the standard cover and the interiors while Eisner and Harvey Award winner Laura Martin will provide coloring.
Archie, as Master of the Storm, resides in Allgood, a utopian city over the Rainbow Bridge, "where the food is plentiful, the girls are heavenly, and everything is absolutely... boring!" Luckily, Reggie the Wicked pulls a prank and Archie’s father banishes the red-headed thunder god to Riverdale, USA, making their lives more interesting.
DeFalco, who began his career at Archie and spent a large chunk of it writing and serving as Editor-in-Chief at Marvel, had a noteworthy stint on Thor (1st series), beginning with issue #383 (1987). DeFalco was taking over scripting duties from Simonson, who had a lengthy and critically acclaimed run on the title.
