Marvel Comics has released images of Neil Gaiman’s Angela, who makes her first major appearance in the Marvel Universe in issue #5 of Guardians of the Galaxy (she appeared briefly at the end of Age of Ultron #10). The new images come from the interior pages of Guardians #5, Marvel had previously unveiled Milo Manara’s Angela-centric cover to the issue (see "Manara Cover for 'Guardians' #5").
Gaiman created the character of Angela for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn, but ending up suing McFarlane and regaining control of the character after a protracted legal battle (see "Gaiman, McFarlane Settle"). In March Gaiman announced that he was taking Angela to Marvel (see "Gaiman Takes Angela to the Marvel Universe"), and at that time Marvel indicated that Gaiman would be the co-writer on Guardians of the Galaxy #5 along with Brian Michael Bendis (and the book was solicited that way). Today Marvel downgraded Gaiman’s credit on the issue from "co-writer" to "consultant." The effect that the change in credits will have on sales or the title’s potential returnability has not be determined at this time.
Gaiman Now Listed as 'Consultant' Not 'Co-Writer'
