Comic-Con News: DC Comics is taking a page out of Marvel’s marketing handbook by releasing a trio of new teaser images for its September-debuting Forever Evil event. Though Marvel probably would have spread the teaser posters over 3 days to catch more news cycles, the idea is the same--get the fans speculating about what is going to happen in the villain-centered Forever Evil even, and which characters are going to be involved.
Forever Evil is going to be on a much bigger scale than other recent DC events. It is the first "New 52" DC Universe-wide crossover (see "First 'New 52' Universe-Wide Crossover"). There are indeed some tantalizing scraps of information in these teasers, particularly the image of a new, apparently female Green Lantern exposed to a bright light with the caption "When the unexpected happens." What ties the new Lantern to this menacing event?
The second image features a close shot of the boots of a red-clad and a black-clad figure tramping over a smashed Teen Titans logo with the caption "When the unbelievable happens." Whatever the "unbelievable" turns out to be, it certainly doesn’t look good for the Titans.
But the situation appears even worse for Nightwing. The Nightwing teaser features the caption, "When the unthinkable happens," and features the hero’s insignia bathed in blood. It certainly appears that "evil" will be ascendant in the Forever Evil event, at least at first, and chances look pretty good that Nightwing might turn out to be the event’s first casualty. But will this be the end of Dick Grayson, and, if so, will he be the only casualty? Those questions probably won’t be answered at Comic-Con, but look for a few more details about DC’s major fall event to come out of the show’s DC panels.
Will Nightwing Survive?
