Relativity will finance, produce, and distribute a live action feature based on Anomaly, the graphic novel and app by Hollywood dealmaker Skip Brittenham and Witchblade co-creator Brian Haberlin of Anomaly Productions (see "'Anomaly,' The Longest Full Color Original Graphic Novel"), according to Deadline, and confirmed by Anomaly.
Joe Roth (Alice In Wonderland, Oz the Great and Powerful, and many more) is set to produce along with Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Zombieland) and Tucker Tooley (Immortals, Limitless).
Edward Ricourt (Now You See Me) has been signed to write the screenplay.
The 370-page graphic novel is a gigantic science fiction tome, the largest color OGN ever released. A free AR app that interacts with the printed page is available on multiple platforms. A separate stand-alone app includes a soundtrack with name voice talent and interactive features.
"We designed Anomaly to be as much of a cinematic experience as possible, using cutting-edge technology to create a dimension of interactivity that’s never been done before," said Haberlin. "And the response from comics fans has been fantastic."
Anomaly was the company’s first release, and will soon be followed by a new graphic novel, Shifter, in November (see "Anomaly Plans 'Shifter'").
