Note: At the request of Warner Bros. we have been forced to take down the promotional trailer for the Godzilla remake. We apologize to our readers for this action, which was taken at the behest of the property's rights holder. Legendary Pictures has finally released the trailer it showed for its upcoming Godzilla remake at Comic-Con back in July. Legendary heavily promoted its Godzilla movie at Comic-Con and released an exclusive poster (see "Comic-Con Posters--Part I") in addition to presenting the trailer. Legendary’s Godzilla, which had to overcome several legal hurdles (see "Legendary Loses a Round"), is slated to open nationwide on May 16th, 2014.
Although the "King of Monsters" has had only mixed success on the big screen since his original 1950s incarnation (who can forget Raymond Burr, TV’s Perry Mason, as the “interlocutor” in the original American version), the Godzilla property has always demonstrated an ability to drive sales of a wide range of merchandise. In addition to IDW’s popular Godzilla comic book series, Diamond Comic Distributors has forged a major deal with Toho to import licensed Godzilla merchandise (see "Diamond Deal with Toho for Japanese Godzilla Merch").
