Just as the 'marvelous' mutants of X2 are about to stomp the box office into submission once again, comes word that a trailer for Artisan's forthcoming film based on The Punisher will accompany screenings of Ang Lee's Hulk film, which opens on June 20. The second haymaker in Marvel's one-two punch for the summer of '03, The Hulk promises to be one of the most interesting superhero movies yet, and should provide excellent exposure for The Punisher. The Punisher, which is being produced by Gail Ann Hurd, who is also producing the Hulk, represents another potential cinema franchise for Marvel, which has now established both Spider-Man and the X-Men in the very top echelon of box office properties, with Daredevil and Blade both firmly ensconced in a less gaudy, but still very profitable second tier.
