Jesse Payronel will write and direct a film based on the Image comic Sheltered, according to Hollywood Reporter. Payronel has one film under his belt, the indie feature Siren. Circle of Confusion, which produced The Walking Dead and has a number of other comics-based projects in development, is producing.
The comic is written by Ed Brisson, with art by Johnnie Christmas. A first graphic novel was released in December (selling around 1800 copies in comic stores the first month, see "Top 300 Graphic Novels--December 2013").
The "pre-apocalyptic" comic tells the story of survivalists whose children mount a coup d’etat.
