Fantasy Flight Games has announced four single starship expansions for its Star Wars X-Wing miniatures game for release in the second quarter.  This wave of releases features four dedicated dogfighters, two each for the Rebel Alliance and Imperial fleets: E-Wing, Z-95 Headhunter, TIE Defender, and TIE Phantom.

Each package includes a 1/270 scale starship, four ship cards, five upgrade cards, one maneuver dial, and tokens at $14.95.

The four packs are:

Z-95 Headhunter Expansion Pack, for the Rebel fleet.  This starfighter has the lowest squad point value for the Rebel fleet, which makes it an extremely efficient missile platform to better enable the Alliance to match Imperial forces ship-for-ship.

The TIE Defender Expansion Pack is a powerful, straight-forward Imperial fighter.  The upgrade cards include two elite talent upgrades that give the TIE Defender pilot a unique skill set.  The ship itself has three attack, three agility, three hull, and three shields.

The E-Wing Expansion Pack introduces a starfighter that was designed to match or exceed the performance of the Rebel X-wing’s firepower and durability.  The E-wing’s advanced technology is includes the ability to equip both system and astromech upgrades alongside torpedoes.

The TIE Phantom Expansion Pack brings one of the most menacing Imperial starfighters to the X-Wing game, and introduces new rules for cloaking.  The new stygium crystal cloaking device is added to a fighter that already has deflector shields and hyperdrive, making this a menacing foe, even before players customize their ships with system and crew upgrades.

Wave four will follow the imminent release of the Imperial Aces Expansion Pack (see "'X-Wing: Imperial Aces Expansion Pack'").  With strong organized play (see "FFG's 2014 Store Championships") and repeated sell-out, it’s no surprise Star Wars: X-Wing was #2 on the summer 2013 bestselling charter (see "Top 5 Non-Collectible Miniature Lines--Summer 2013").
