IDW Publishing has announced plans to release a new series based on Wizards of the Coast’s Dungeons & Dragons. Dungeons & Dragons Legends of Baldur’s Gate, penned by Jim Zub, will arrive in October.
Zub (Skullkickers) has penned several Pathfinder comic adaptations for Dynamite (see “'Pathfinder' GN a la RPG”) as well as writing for numerous other properties including Dynamite’s Red Sonja, and is currently author on IDW’s Samurai Jack (see “IDW's New 'Samurai Jack'”). Zub will be joined on the five-issue miniseries by artist Max Dunbar (Red Sonja: Atlantis Rises). The main cover for issue one will be done by Sarah Stone (Transformers: Windblade). A subscription variant will be done by Max Dunbar, and a retailer incentive cover will feature art from Tyranny of Dragons.
Set in the city of Baldur’s Gate, several generations after historical events took place. Now a new threat rises, and a new group of heroes must join legendary ranger Minsc to save the day.
The comic series will launch concurrently with Wizards of the Coast’s new Dungeons & Dragons edition this fall (see “New 'D&D' Dates, Info, and Pics”). The first full color, 32-page issue, releases October 15. MSRP is $3.99
