Of course all good comic book fans know that Wolverine is much too popular a character to be banished from the Marvel Universe forever, but the Death of Wolverine event will obviously have some short term repercussions in the Marvel Universe (see "Wolverine Taking a Dirt Nap in September"). One of the questions raised by Logan’s demise--what will happen to the Wolverine & The X-Men comics--was answered today by news that non-mutant Spider-Man will take over as the head of the Jean Grey School in a new ongoing series Spider-Man & The X-Men, written by head Daily Show scribe Elliott Kalan and drawn by Marco Failla, which will debut with #1 issue in December.
Comicbook.com broke the news today that the wisecracking Spidey would find himself at the heart of the mutant academic infrastructure as the smart aleck wallcrawler takes over for Wolvie in a move that is sure to generate some sparks of discord among the hardcore mutants, many of whom have already developed a dislike of Spider-Man. Adding another layer of complication is a villain team-up that was 65 million years in the making--Sauron and Stegron the Dinosaur.
Kalan, a non-stop comic reader since the age of 10, is very proud to be the first writer to pair the Marvel Universe’s two top dino-man characters, Sauron and Stegron the Dinosaur telling Comicbook.com: "There's no way I'm the first person to think of teaming up Marvel's two dino-man villains! Their teaming is going to be played mostly straight in that these two guys are a serious threat to our heroes, but there will definitely be a silly edge to what happens with them. The tone of this book is fun, exciting, light-hearted adventure, so don't expect a grim and gritty take on Stegron."
