Aspen Comics announced a new design for Kiani, the warrior heroine of Michael Turner’s Fathom series. Her new look will debut in Fathom: Kiani Vol. 4, releasing in February.
The publisher tasked artist Alex Konat (All New Michael Turner’s Fathom) as well Giuseppe Cafaro & Wes Hartman (Fathom: Kiani) with updating the ten-year old character. "(A)s our company and fan base continue to evolve, a new generation of readers will be introduced to this wonderful character, including a much larger female audience. We wanted to honor that spirit of progress by updating the look and feel of the series with an exciting new design," said Fathom: Kiani writer Vince Hernandez.
Fathom: Kiani Volume 4 #1 releases on February 11th. The series is written by Vince Hernandez with art by Giuseppe Cafaro and Wes Hartman. Covers will be done by Cafaro and Alex Konat, with retailer incentive covers by Agnes Garbowska (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, You, Me and Zombie).
The Fathom property was optioned for a big screen adaptation in 2009 (see "Foxy Star for 'Fathom'"), but it languished in development until the rights reverted to Aspen MLT.
