The semi-fictional feature film Comic Book: The Movie will be released on VHS and DVD on January 27th, 2004 from Buena Vista Home Entertainment.  The movie, which was filmed at San Diego Comicon 2002 and is largely improv, is from Creative Light Entertainment, which recently released William Shatner's Spplat Attack, a sci-fi scenario paintball game, and Stan Lee's Mutants, Monsters & Marvels, a one-on-one documentary with filmmaker Kevin Smith (see 'Kevin Smith, Stan Lee in DVD Retrospective').

Comic Book: The Movie follows the filming of a documentary on comic book heroes 'Commander Courage and Liberty Ladd' by the 'world's biggest comic fan' (played by Mark Hamill, who also directed).  Joining him are the studio's marketing director played by Roger Rose of Rugrats in Paris: The Movie; an alcoholic cameraman played by Animaniacs' Jess Harnell; and the grandson of Commander Courage's deceased creator played by award-winning voice over artist Billy West of Futurama.  The long list of pop culture cameos includes Hugh Hefner, Bruce Campbell, Stan Lee, and Kevin Smith.
