Tokyopop has announced that it has licensed Initial D to Valusoft for a PC game, to be released in early 2004.  Valusoft, a THQ division, produces titles primarily from $9.99 to $19.99, sold through mass merchants.  It has an existing line of racing titles, including several based on the street racing scene from which Initial D draws its inspiration.  Valusoft is also no stranger to anime, with a couple of Hello Kitty games under its belt.  Tokyopop has released 11 volumes of the Initial D manga and one anime volume.

The videogame is the latest in a series of licensing, distribution, and marketing announcements Tokyopop has made about this property, which has major retail support (see 'Initial D Getting Chain Exposure') and TV advertising (see 'Tokyopop Plans Major Push for Initial D')
