Dark Horse Comics has managed to get articles on Joss Whedon's Fray in Entertainment Weekly (May 18th issue) and TV Guide (issue on sale May 28th).   Although the articles are short they are accompanied by illustrations, which should draw attention to the eight-issue supernatural miniseries.  Fray is the first attempt at comic book writing for Whedon, who is the 'auteur' behind the popular Buffy The Vampire Slayer television series (see 'Buffy Flees the Frog' ). Dark Horse already publishes Buffy comics as well as comics based on Angel, another television series created by Whedon.

Fray should have a strong appeal to Buffy fans since it represents a new foray into the vampires and vixen territory that Whedon has made his own.  Though extremely busy with his many projects Whedon is doing interviews with the Chicago Tribune and the Hearst Syndicate to help publicize Fray.  Fray has the potential to attract some new customers, but they have to know that a store is carrying it.  A window display is the most inexpensive way to capitalize on newspaper and magazine publicity.
