Checker Book Publishing Group has entered into a licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures Corporation to reprint the original Gold Key run of Star Trek comics, featuring characters from the original television show, in a series of trade paperbacks.

 

The first volume, due out in March, will reprint Star Trek issues 1 through 8 (of the 60 total published), from Western Publishing's Gold Key imprint.  Artwork for the first two issues was by Nevio Zaccara, with the art for issues #3-8 by Alberto Giolitti.  The first issue debuted in 1967, the same year the original Star Trek television show began.

 

Star Trek joins other high profile titles reprinted by Checker BPG, such as Alan Moore's Supreme (see 'Checker to Publish Alan Moore's Supreme'), Clive Barker's Hellraiser and Tapping the Vein (see 'Checker to Publish Clive Barker's Hellraiser' and 'Checker to Publish Clive Barker's Tapping the Vein') and Winsor McCay:  Early Works (see 'Checker Chronicles the Career of Winsor McCay'), to form an impressive line-up.
