Best Buy and Sony have partnered on a promotion tied to the April 2nd release of Hellboy, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The promotion involves the free distribution, through Best Buy checkouts, of 500,000 Hellboy DVDs featuring ten minutes of the upcoming film, as well as behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and other DVD extras-style features. Geoffrey Ammer, president of worldwide marketing at Columbia/Tristar, is quoted in the article as saying that the company is doing this promotion because it doesn't think Hellboy's audience is going to be confined to genre or comic fans. 'We believe this picture is a much bigger, broader picture,' he said.
