Marvel has decided to retool the popular Ultimates series and get it on a regular schedule. To that end the publisher is canceling orders for Ultimates Volume 2 #1. Marvel will resolicit the title at a later date, when the best-selling comic can be guaranteed to ship monthly. Though it is not the most popular title in the Ultimate line, Ultimates has been a consistent Top Ten title in spite of being chronically late. It began as a monthly, then went bimonthly before becoming just plain sporadic. But those problems should be in the past--according to Ultimates penciler Bryan Hitch, Marvel's plan to insure timely publication of Ultimates is to 'stockpile a whole (story) arc before release.'
