IDW, which has had great success in adapting TV series such as CSI and The Shield to the comic book format, has reached an agreement with videogame giant Konami to publish a comic book based on Konami's #1 videogame franchise, Metal Gear Solid. Metal Gear Solid has sold over 14 million units worldwide in its various platform iterations. Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid game, personally approved IDW's choice of Ashley Wood to illustrate the new comic series. Mr. Kojima and others at Konami may have become familiar with the comic books created by IDW when Konami licensed IDW's CVO (Covert Vampiric Operations) comic for a video game (see 'IDW's CVO Returns'). No details on the format, price or release date of the Metal Gear Solid comic book series have been released at this time.
