AnotherUniverse.com is up and running as one part of the Fandom inventory liquidation being run by CMI Holdings, parent of Comics and Comix and Thecomicstore.com.  AU sent out an e-mail notice to its former customers on Friday, June 29th.  CMI is also liquidating inventory via list, and by selling directly out of the old AU warehouse in Virginia.  It has taken CMI roughly two months to get a site up to begin selling AU inventory, a situation we predicted (see 'Fandom Shop Still Dead') due to the difficulties involved in reviving the site, replacing employees, and so on, and disputed by CMI Holdings' Ross Rojek, who predicted the site would be up by around May 7 (see 'Fandom Shop and NPO').

Regardless of the timing, this site is along way from the pop culture e-commerce powerhouse that was once the leading retailer of such merchandise in the country.  At this point it's strictly a site for the purpose of inventory liquidation; no new inventory appears to have been added since Fandom shut down several months ago. The e-mail newsletter does promise that new products will be added soon, however.  There is also no advance order store, although the site promises the ability to advance order 'the most exclusive preorder items available' soon.  Merchandising is minimal--many titles offered (such as Green Arrow #1) lead to 'out of stock' messages.  Other than an attempted link (which actually leads back to AU) from AU to  TheComicStore.com, there has been no integration of the two sites to date.

Interestingly enough, there's no trace of the Fandom name anywhere on the site, which has reverted to the Another Universe monicker after having been the Fandom Shop for some time.  Fandomshop.com no longer leads anywhere, and the Fandom.com URL now leads to Cinescape, which appears to have been bought by the same group that acquired most of the content assets of Fandom (see 'Fandom Assets Sold').
