Peter David has announced on his Website that he will be writing Marvel's new Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series, which should hit retail later this summer. Mark Waid was originally announced as the writer for this series, which will be drawn by Mike Wieringo, but Waid dropped out and David jumped at the chance to return to his Spider-Man roots, writing in his blog: 'I'm really excited about this, since it's been years since I've written an on-going Spidey title and fans have been asking when, or if, I'll ever have the opportunity again.'
