Thanks, in part, to the success of Scholastic's Bone series, with 80,000 copies sold of the first two (of 9 volumes) so far, a number of new graphic novel titles will be coming from Scholastic during the next year.

Representatives of Scholastic told ICv2 at the San Diego Comic-Con International that the popular novel series aimed at young girls, The Baby-Sitters Club, will get the graphic novel treatment with one volume per year, beginning in the spring of 2006.  The 6' x 9' softcovers, by Raina Telgemeier, will be priced at $7.99.

Chynna Clugston, known for her outstanding work on Blue Monday for Oni Press (see 'New Blue Monday Trade Paperback Set For Sept.'), will be the writer/artist for Queen Bee, an all-new graphic novel series with one volume per year, beginning this August, also priced at $7.99.

Bionicle, by Greg Farshtey, is a toy tie-in, while The Black Belt Club, by Bernard Chang, coming out twice a year, will be heavily illustrated text novels.

All Scholastic graphic novel titles will be suitable for all ages.
