Marvel Comics has announced the signing of  'youth lit' author Tamora Pierce to an exclusive contract.  Pierce has made a specialty of creating action-packed fantasy adventures for young female readers in novels such as Wild Magic, Lady Knight and Trickster's Queen, and her first Marvel project will be a new White Tiger series. 

Originally created by George Perez, White Tiger is one of the very few female Puerto Rican characters in comics.  Brian Michael Bendis brought the White Tiger back in his celebrated Daredevil run, and Bendis buddy David Mack will provide covers and character designs for Ms. Pierce's White Tiger.  Marvel has not yet announced when the first of Pierce's White Tiger comics will be released, but one thing is for certain, when it does appear chances are very good that this will be one street-smart comic book heroine who really will 'kick butt.'
