The Anime News Network and Protoculture Inc. have unveiled the new format for Protoculture Addicts with Issue #88, the first full color 100-page version of the magazine, which is the oldest anime publication in North America.  Another first in Issue #88 is the inclusion of a 20-page preview of Del Rey's ES: Eternal Sabbath manga.  While the editors of Protoculture Addicts want to make manga previews a regular attraction of the magazine, they promise to do so only if top flight titles are available for previewing.

Protoculture Addicts #88 retails for $5.95 and as usual includes well-researched articles on a number of key anime series such as Basilisk, Blood+, and Kamichu that have not yet been released in the U.S.  The editors and writers at Protoculture Addicts are real experts in the field of anime and Japanese pop culture and they bring their expertise to bear not just on hot new series, but also on enlightening examinations of classics from the past such as Urusei Yatsura, which is profiled in Issue #88.

Anime magazines play a key role in creating the savvy fan base necessary for the long term growth of the anime market here in North America -- and Protoculture Addicts, which has finally attained a format worth of its content, is one of the most indispensable.
