Seven Seas Entertainment has announced an agreement with Backbone Entertainment to create an all-new original manga based on Backbone's hit entertainment franchise, Death Jr.
Death Jr. began its extraordinary run as a video game for the PSP system and has also seen considerable success as a comic book series from Image (see 'Death Jr. Held Over'). Seven Seas will take a different tack with the Death Jr. property by creating a shoujo manga where the spotlight is on Death Jr.'s girlfriend, Pandora.
Hai, the creator of Seven Sea's stylish OEL manga Blade for Barter, will both write and draw Seven Seas' Death Jr.: Pandora, which be released in the standard black-and-white manga tankoubon format in 2007.
Seven Seas, which has recently added the Japanese Boogiepop manga series to its (primarily) OEL lineup, is no stranger to working with licensed properties. The first licensed Seven Seas series, a full color American format comic series based on Speed Racer, is set for release later this year (see 'Seven Seas Launching Speed Racer Comic').
