ADV's Chris Oarr saw our article on the start date for the first FUNimation Channel programming (see 'FUNimation Channel Debuts'), and took exception to the characterization of ADV's Anime Network.

In the June 7th article 'Funimation Channel Debuts,' ICv2 states that, 'Unlike ADV's Anime Network, which is widely available as a 'pay for play' video-on-demand channel, the FUNimation Channel was designed as a 'linear' channel available via cable or satellite providers....'

Anime Network is operating as a linear channel 24 hours a day 7 days a week in more than a dozen cable markets across the United States.  Many of these cable operators initially carried Anime Network as a 'video on demand' option for their digital subscribers, then added the Anime Network to their regular linear lineup when they saw how popular it was.  Anime Network expects to 'graduate' from video on demand to a 24/7 linear channel on many more cable networks in the coming year.

Anime Network has been so successful in the new field of video on demand, it's easy to see how some might forget that it is the only 24/7 cable channel devoted to anime actually serving customers today.  We look forward to the opportunity to serve even more anime fans in the months to come.
