AnimeNation is reporting that Shueisha has announced that an anime series based on the D. Gray-Man manga by Katsura Hoshino will debut on Japanese TV in October.  Viz has released only one volume of the D. Gray Man manga in the U.S. so far, but the series has already had an impact -- it managed to secure a spot in the latest ICv2 survey of 'Top 50 Manga Properties' in ICv2's Retailers Guide to Anime/Manga #15.

The D. Gray-Man manga, which is rated 16+, is a stylish Gothic horror series set in 19th Century Europe and featuring lots of religious intrigue as a young exorcist battles against the devilish designs of a villain known as the Millennium Earl.
