Anime Expo announced that over its four-day run, which ended on Tuesday, 41,000 unique individuals had attended the show, a new record and the largest attendance ever for a North American anime show. This 15th anniversary Anime Expo had a great guest roster and a bigger than ever exhibit hall (see 'Record Crowds at Anime Expo'). Both pre-regs and the first two days' sales had indicated that the show would break 40,000; this statement from the show confirms it.
