Marvel Entertainment has announced that action specialist Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed) will direct a new big screen adaptation of The Incredible Hulk. Zak Penn (X2, X-Men: The Last Stand) is writing the script, which will take the character back to his roots and promises to be a lot more 'fun' than the angst-ridden Ang Lee Hulk movie, which opened well ($62 million), but ended up earning only $132 million in its domestic run.

As stipulated in the agreement under which Marvel recovered the rights to the Hulk from Universal (which produced the Ang Lee film, see 'Marvel Happy to Reclaim Hulk'), Universal will distribute the new Hulk film, which will not be part of Marvel's distribution deal with Paramount (see 'Marvel to Produce Films'), though the film will be financed through Marvel's $525 million revolving film financing facility.
