According to Hollywood Reporter, producers for Columbia Picture's adaptation of 30 Days of Night (see ''30 Days of Night' Movie Set') have cast Danny Huston to play Vicente, the leader of the vampires.  Shooting is scheduled to being this month in New Zealand with the film's release expected for pre-Halloween 2007.

 

The film is based on the IDW comic by Steve Niles and set in Alaska during the sunless artic winter.  David Slade is directing, Josh Hartnett  (see 'Hartnett Gets '30 Days') and Melissa George (Amityville Horror) star as the married sheriff and deputy team dealing with the vampiric visitors.

 

Huston is a grandson of John Huston and is a director-turned-actor.  Acting credits include portraying Orson Welles in Fade to Black and parts in The Constant Gardner, The Aviator and Leaving Las Vegas.
