According to the Wall Street Journal, Japanese mobile carrier NTT DoCoMo has acquired a 3.78% stake in the publishing company Kadokawa Holdings.  The $34.5 million investment is meant to secure entertainment content to provide for DoCoMo subscribers.  DoCoMo and Kadokawa will work together to develop mobile phone content based on Kadokawa-based movies and animation. 

 

The downloading both anime clips and manga chapters to mobile phones is an increasingly common form of entertainment in Japan, where cell phones are ubiquitous.
