Wizards of the Coast's MapleStory iTCG, due out in November (see 'WotC's MapleStory iTrading Card Game'), will be directed at a kids audience of ages 10 and up, reflecting the audience for the MMORPG, for which over half the North American players are under 17. The MMORPG audience is about 60% male; Wizards expects the TCG audience to skew more heavily male (around 70%), reflecting the predominantly male players of TCGs.
Images for the cards will be based on monsters, items, and weapons found in the MMORPG, but with new art for the TCG by Nexon talent.
Wizards is offering MapleStory to both mass and hobby. No organized play support is planned, which may be moot given the close interaction between the trading card game and the MMORPG.
Madhouse is producing the MapleStory anime (see 'MapleStory Anime in Japan').
