With a run of recent CCG sell-outs hitting the market (see “CCG Sell-Outs”), we asked CCG manufacturers a handful of questions about how they manage sell-out issues.  TC Digital CEO Bryan Gannon provided these answers for its Chaotic TCG.

What is TC Digital’s goal in terms of time of sell-out—how long do you want to have product?

Our experience has been that the demand has been stronger than forecasted and has caused us to increase our production volumes on each set to meet the demand. Our goal is always to provide our retail partners, both in the core comic/hobby, and the mass and specialty retail markets, with the appropriate amount of product to support their customer base.

Are you trying to have product be sold out in all channels at once, or to have products in some channels last longer than others?

Our channels are supported from an overall plan that services both the core game players and the casual collectors of trading cards. We would expect that there will be differing time spans of sell-through in the different channels.  We release each set to the hobby channel first, followed later by mass retail, so we rely on our distribution and retail partners to help us plan optimum production.

Will you ever do a reprint of a series that sells out quickly?  Why or why not?

All good trading card games must be fun and challenging, as well as valuable to collect. Our goal is to produce enough product to support the high demand from game players while maintaining the collectability of the brand.
