Fantasy Flight Games will release a new version of the Games Workshop and Brio AB dungeon crawl boardgame DungeonQuest this summer.

The game challenges the players to explore the treacherous and dangerous Dragonfire Dungeon.  The dungeon is formed from tiles representing the rooms and corridors, and is filled with traps and monsters.  If the players can overcome the obstacles of the dungeon, they may reach the lair of the sleeping Dragonlord Kalladra at the dungeon’s heart.  After pilfering a few trinkets from the hoard, they must attempt to escape before time runs out.

Originally released under the title Drakborgen by Brio in 1985, the game was published by Games Workshop in an English language version in 1987.  Workshop also released two expansion sets.

Fantasy Flight is creating a new edition of the game, based on the same themes and core mechanics.  The Fantasy Flight version will incorporate elements of both Games Workshop expansions, and offers a streamlined ruleset.

DungeonQuest is for one to four players.  Suggested retail will be $59.95.  Stock number is VA72.
