Kotobukiya has unveiled three potent, highly-detailed, game and anime-based mecha model kits that will be available in the U.S. in Feburary of 2011.  The two game-based kits include the Takemikazuchi Type 00R mecha from the 2006 Muv-Luv Alternative game from Age, and The Armored Core Crest CR89E Oracle from the 2008 3-D PlayStation game Armored Core For Answer developed by From Software.  The anime-based model is the Gunbuster D-Style is taken from the classic Hideaki Anno-helmed Aim for the Top! Gunbuster from1988.

 

The Muv-Luv Alternative: Takemikazuchi Type 00R Fine Scale Model Kit (MSRP $49.99) stands 7” tall and comes with a wide variety of weapons and accessories.  The Type 00R is reserved only for the general, and is known as “the Shogun.”  With its distinctive horned head and bright color palette featuring the “royal” purple as its symbolic color, this is a most imposing mecha kit.

 

The Armored Core Crest CR89E Oracle Ver. Fine Scale Model Kit (MSRP $49.99) is the newest robot addition to Kotobukiya’s Variable Infinity Series.  The kit can be built according to its specs or builders can swap out parts from any other Variable Infinity Series kit to personalize the design.  The kit requires easy snap fit assembly and does not need to be painted.  Standing 7 ½ inches tall (1/72 scale), this powerful unit is comprised of approximately 400 parts and when fully assembled it has 30 points of articulation for extreme poseability.

 

The Gunbuster D-Style Model Kit (MSRP $19.99) is a potent little super-deformed robot that stands 4.75-inches tall and perfectly captures the look of the original mecha from the groundbreaking Gainax anime.  The snap-together kit features 40 pre-painted parts and 14 points of articulation, which allow for a wide range of poses including a cool flying pose made possible by a display base with a moveable arm.
